PROFILE
Head Coach Garett Lee has garnered close to 20 years professional experience in the swimming industry.
He began his career in swim teaching back in 1996, and has had broad and extensive exposures across different specialisations of swim teaching and coaching while working with several organisations. Some highlights include having been overall in charge of the Learn-To-Swim department at a leading swim school, having led a team of 10 full-time swim teachers/coaches and almost 90 part-time swim teachers, and was responsible for the creation and implementation of an in-house swim teacher training syllabus. He was also an in-house swim teacher trainer, and was responsible in ensuring the quality of teaching standards and grading assessments of both teachers and students.
In 2009, he decided to realise his dreams of building his own swim school together with a small team of wonderful like-minded persons, and sought to provide swim teaching lessons that catered to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
This manifested itself in the birth of Little Swim School, and has since grown from strength to strength. Propelled by a never ending quest for knowledge to improve teaching methods, Garett has participated in international swim conferences, established a wide network with individuals and associations from abroad, and has also hosted workshops with invited trainers from overseas that are among the best in the business of swim teaching to improve the pedagogy effectiveness of his team.
He has further honed and expanded his expertise in the swimming arena to include academic qualifications in exercise and sports science, as well as professional aquatic teaching qualifications from Australia and the USA.
Since 2013, Garett has also been actively involved in imparting his experience in teaching and grooming the next generation of swim instructors, through his position as course trainer for the Swimsafer programme – a nation-wide standard learn-to-swim programme conducted for all schools registered with the Ministry of Education.
When he’s on dry land, Coach Lee enjoys a game of tennis, and inadvertently leave burnt marks on the tarmac by testing the limits of motoring. He is also a firm believer that the bicycle is one of the greatest inventions ever made, and takes his trusty Scott bike to explore the lesser known parts of Singapore whenever time avails.
